Commentary on the film

Epic fight between an old experienced fisherman and a gigantic marlin, symbol of the fight between man and the power of nature. This film, based on the novel by Ernest Hemingway, Alexander Petrov and his son Dmitri Petrov spent two years drawing nearly 30,000 oil paintings to create this animated masterpiece that won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2000.
