Bringing quality cinema to young audiences
As producers and directors of animated films ourselves, our work has led us to become interested in films and short films for young audiences. Do children have a choice in what they watch?
With an international vocation, the Films pour enfants association, governed by the French law of July 1, 1901 and the decree of August 16, 1901, wants to offer, in an educational context, access to author's animated cinema to children around the world. The association makes it possible, in particular through the organization of distribution on the Internet, to increase the visibility of arthouse films which do not fit into traditional distribution schemes.
According to UNESCO, “universal access to quality education contributes to peace and sustainable social and economic development. OER represents a strategic opportunity to improve the quality of education and strengthen policy dialogue, knowledge sharing and capacity building.”
The association offers, with free and open access for family viewing, poetic films to educate children about artistic practices.
Children are invited to watch films from the films-pour-enfants.com portal at home with parents and to work in class with teachers on understanding the story and messages but also on cinematographic genres and narrative forms or even the creative processes and techniques for producing images.
An image education tool to develop critical thinking, cinematographic culture, artistic practice and discover new professions.
A tool for education through images to approach, with a concern for transversality, other areas of learning (living world, citizenship, etc.), and transmediality, the different modes of expression (literature, painting, music, etc.).
