Educational activities

Explore the world of matter.

Dissolution experiments (salt, sugar, etc.) in order to fully understand the end of the film during which the two snowmen and sandmen try in vain to find each other underwater.

The objective of the sequence is to approach the notion of solubility property with the indirect objective of facilitating the understanding of the story of the animated film.

This activity can be organized in several sessions.

Compare a glass of salted water and a glass of unsalted water, therefore visually identical. How do you know if these two glasses contain the same thing? By tasting the water, for example, students will discover that a glass contained salt water. Make salt water from water and salt and realize that the salt disappears in the water.

Ask the children to immerse a piece of white sugar and a piece of brown sugar in water, then draw different stages of dissolution.

Experiment with the possible dissolution or not of different materials in water. Say or write the conclusion of the experience.
