Explore the world of matter.
Dissolution experiments (salt, sugar, etc.) in order to fully understand the end of the film during which the snowman and the sandman try in vain to reunite underwater.
The objective of the sequence is to introduce the idea of solubility, with the indirect aim of helping pupils understand the film's story of the animated film.
This activity can be organized in several sessions.
Compare a glass of salt water and a glass of plain water, which look identical. How do you know if these two glasses contain the same thing? By tasting the water, for example, the pupils will discover that one of the glasses contained salt water. Make salt water from water and salt and realize that the salt disappears in the water.
Ask the children to immerse a piece of white sugar and a piece of brown sugar in water, then draw different stages of dissolution.
Test whether or not different materials dissolve in water. State or write down the conclusion of the experiment.
