Create a musical staff and put it in slideshow format. Sound creation.
This film is very interesting and very rich. The ending is surprising; we understand that the songwriter is in the midst of creation, and that it is his creation that we see from the start of the video. What if students became songwriters? We will first have to decipher the film and work on the meaning, do several viewings, describe, explain, put into words what we see. Point out, if students cannot see it, that the characters are in black, and that the words and thoughts are in color, which seems to mean that the words and ideas are important.
Then we can ask the students to create their own drawings on a score. They can choose to continue on the theme of love or choose another theme. First ask them to think, alone or in groups, to write down their ideas, to start making a few test drawings. Plan discussions in a large group to help and restart the work. After this preparatory phase, distribute staves to the students, and let them draw. Once the visual arts work is completed, take photos of the productions and create a slideshow showing the photos one after the other. This slideshow can be made with the children if we want to include ICT in the project. Show the slideshow to the students. Point out that it is very successful but that it would be better with a little music. Then propose a sound creation.
sound creation process is described in a document that can be found on Éduscol.
The idea is to leave plenty of room for children's imagination while guiding them to achieve the result we want to obtain. Offer children instruments but also objects that make “noise”. We can also use the body (body percussion). Invite them to try playing, explore all the possibilities, vary the intensity for example. Offer them listening to contemporary music. Then refocus on the project: review the slideshow and search with the children for the ideal music based on the passages and the emotions that we want to convey (soft, slow, loud, fast music, etc.). Then work again with the instruments and materials. Listen to the various proposals, resume based on the new ideas exchanged, start recording, listen, choose together and make the final decision. Then edit with the slideshow. Examples of sound creations on the CPD 67 website. Then share this beautiful production with other classes and/or parents.
