This activity involves both individual and group work. Each student will draw then cut out an abstract shape to build a mural with the whole class.
After watching the short film, study with the students works by artists such as Vasily Kandinsky or Joan Miró by listing the different elements of the paintings. Work towards agreeing on a common theme (water, trees, geometric shapes, etc.) so as to agree on a set of ground rules that give the work coherence; for example a set of colors.
Before moving on to the drawing stage, each child will state their goal aloud, taking into account the brief agreed by the whole class. A group of students can take care of the background of the fresco, a job in its own right. The children who have prepared their individual drawing will cut it out and the whole class will start thinking together about how to put the piece together.
This work can also be done jointly with several classes in the school. The mural can be displayed in the classroom or elsewhere in the school.
