Educational activities

Recognize and name plane figures.

The students are encouraged to identify the geometric shapes in the film (triangle, square, rectangle, etc.). They can draw them as they go or simply call on the teacher who can suggest freeze frames.

Session 1: The hunt for shapes

The teacher asks the students to look in the class for the shapes observed in the film. In pairs, the students go looking for these shapes. They can bring them back and place them in the basket provided for this purpose, take a photo of them, or stick a sticker on the identified shape (you can set up a color code, red for triangles, blue for rectangles, etc.). Once the shape hunt is over, you must validate the shapes identified as a whole class.

Session 2: Sorting exercises

The teacher can plan 4 shape sorting workshops:

  • A sorting in the form of photographs as offered by the Draw me a story. website
  • A sorting of the tokens themselves. These shapes can also be prepared on rigid cardboard.
  • A lottery of shapes in order to correctly establish the vocabulary.
  • A sorting to be carried out on a card using coded coloring.
