D’une rare crudité

Nature film

How can you imagine being a vegetable?

Synopsis

Sweet and cruel stories in a strange garden.

D’une rare crudité

Commentary: D’une rare crudité

A strange and poetic film, what if plants had feelings. Is there plant intelligence? For Science, consciousness is the product of cerebral activity and plants have neither brain nor nervous system. But why should only humans be endowed with consciousness or intelligence? Is it impossible for a plant to be aware of its environment and perhaps itself? A subject which will open a long debate with children and which, if it does not allow conclusions to be drawn, will invite children to think about the notion of respect for plants, animals and the world around us.
