In order to highlight part of the behind the scenes of creation, Michael Friederich, director of the film Bancal, answers our dreamlike questionnaire.
Discover the dreamlike universe of the directors, the imaginary worlds that influence them, the conscious or unconscious references underlying the films.

1- The character who touched you the most?
I would immediately say Simba in The Lion King. It's my first childhood memory of a character who truly moved me and with whom I very quickly identified. Obviously I'm not just talking about the tragic scene that happens in the ravine...
2- The character that scared you the most?
To stay in childhood, I would say the character of Chernabog in the film Fantasia (the one from 1940). The atmosphere throughout this sequence always frightened me, not to mention the music (Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky) which further supports the point.
3- The character you would most like to meet?
I think it would be Conan Doyle's famous "consulting" detective, Sherlock Holmes. Despite all his faults (sociopath, drug addict, etc.), an encounter, even brief, with a character as charismatic and singular as him should not leave one indifferent.
4- The character you would like to reincarnate as (^_^)?
Without hesitation, and without much originality I think, it would be a little Totoro. Apart from their horribly adorable appearance, these little creatures seem to lead a very peaceful life, but not a boring one. The dream...
5- The world you would like to live in?
I don't know if this will really answer the question, but the universe developed by the German painter Caspar David Friedrich has always fascinated me. Some of his paintings are, of course, not very exciting, but when you see works like The Traveler Above the Sea of Clouds, it really makes you want to live there or see it at least once in your life.
6- The world you wouldn't want to live in?
Still without much originality, the world presented in the film "Blade Runner" doesn't really make you want to live there. Apart from its aesthetic and its very strong atmospheres, it's not enough to make me change my mind.
7- What role would you like to play in a work of fiction?
The character of Kronk, in the film Kuzco, the Megalomaniac Emperor always makes me howl with laughter. It would be a joy to play a character like him.
8- Your earliest memory of fiction?
I seem to remember that it is the animated film The King and the Bird by Paul Grimault. My parents introduced me to this little marvel which has, admittedly, aged a little in certain aspects, but which remains a masterpiece and an essential reference in the field of animation.
9- Your favorite word?
Apopathodiaphulatophobia, just kidding. It means fear of constipation.
10- Music you would like to listen to now?
Right away, I would say the Fram music of the guitarist duo Rodrigo y Gabriela.
