Happiness

An excellent short film to talk about consumerism, the quest for happiness and our consumer society. The opportunity also to rediscover two great works of classical music: the “Habanera” from Carmen by Georges Bizet and “Morning Mood” (Morgenstemning), from Peer Gynt by Edvard Grieg. “Morning Mood” accompanies a moment of dream and escape of the protagonist rat, a nod to the famous final scene of Green Sun (Richard Fleischer, 1973), in which the character of Sol is led towards a voluntary death in a place where images of disappeared natural landscapes are projected, against a background of “Morning Mood”. The beauty of these images, which show a nature that has now disappeared, also contrasts strikingly with the dystopian reality of the film.
