The short film “Rabbit and Deer” was selected for the Takorama 2022 festival organized by the Films pour enfants association.
1-How is this short film visually different from classic animated films?
This short film uses several animation techniques. 2D animation from hand-made drawings and volume animation filmed with a camera (live action).
2-How would you describe the graphic universe at the beginning of the film?
It is a two-dimensional universe. The characters and settings are represented very simply by lines.
3-How would you describe the relationship between the two characters?
They seem to be the best of friends. They live together, play together and sleep together. However, they do not have the same tastes in television programs.
4-At 1 minute 40 minutes into the film, what happens when the TV implodes?
A three-dimensional magic cube appears, rotating on itself. This is the first time the deer has seen a three-dimensional object, and it intrigues him greatly. He even has a nightmare about it while he sleeps.
5-What does the deer do after the first appearance of the three-dimensional magic cube?
The deer decides to study day and night the geometric laws of an object or a three-dimensional space.
It becomes an obsession and he ends up abandoning his friend and arguing with him.
6-During the argument, the rabbit throws a cup of coffee. What happens next?
The coffee cup falls on the deer's computer, which explodes and electrifies the deer. When he wakes up, as if by a miracle, the deer finds himself in three dimensions in his two-dimensional space.
7-What is the reaction of the deer and the rabbit?
The deer is delighted, but the rabbit seems frightened by the deer's transformation into three dimensions.
8-How does the deer discover three-dimensional outer space?
In his joy, he runs but, still unaccustomed to three dimensions, he tears the paper wall of his room with his antlers.
9-Will the rabbit withstand the elements in the three-dimensional outdoor space?
No, because it is made of paper and ink. The only way for him to survive is for the deer to dry him out and redesign him.
10-How does the film end?
The two friends find a balance between the three-dimensional deer and the two-dimensional rabbit.

“Rabbit and Stag lived happily and carefree until their friendship was tested by Stag's new obsession: finding the formula for the third dimension.
After an unexpected accident, Cerf finds himself in a new world, which is unknown to him. Separated by dimensions, the two friends must find a way to find each other again. »
