Azuma Makoto is a Japanese floral artist. Close to botanical sculpture but also to contemporary art such as land art, his very varied work is often accompanied by the photos of Shunsuke Shiinoki.
In July 2014, Azuma Makoto sent a pine bonsai and a floral arrangement hung from helium balloons into space. Discover the Exobiotanica project in more detail and more than 1,300 photographs that tell the story of the sculptures' journey from takeoff in Nevada to the stratosphere at an altitude of more than 30,000 meters.
