Questions about the film

Understand the story, the theme, express your sensitivity and exercise your critical thinking.
“The Little Prince: What does “Tame” mean?
It's something that's too often forgotten. It means “to create connections…”
But, if you tame me, we will need each other.
You will be unique to me in the world. I will be unique in the world for you..."
The definition proposed by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry of the word “tame” refers us to our responsibility towards our neighbor.
Taking care of a pet is no easy task. We must provide for our companion's vital needs but also try to understand what he needs to exist as a living being in his own right and not as a simple object or stuffed animal.
1-What is the film about?
The relationship between a little girl and a shark.
2-Do you think this little girl loves her little shark?
Yes, the little girl loves her shark, but she doesn't try to put herself in its place.
3-Do you think the little girl takes good care of her pet?
No, she doesn't try to understand his feelings. She is selfish.
4-What type of relationship does the little girl have with her little shark?
A dominant-dominated type relationship. The shark can only submit to the little girl's desires.
5-What is the little shark attracted to throughout the film?
The shark is attracted to water. Water on the street, water in the pond and water in the aquarium.
6-What happens when the little girl finds herself in front of the aquarium (1 min. 20 s)?
She understands that her shark dreams of living in the aquarium and joining the other animals.
She then decides to free him.
7-In your opinion, when caring for an animal, what should we pay attention to?
To his feelings and his needs. Is he happy? Does he have everything he needs to be happy? Is he suffering?
8-Is the ending of the film optimistic or pessimistic?
The ending of the film is pessimistic because the shark in the aquarium remains trapped in its tank.
There is no doubt, however, that the people responsible for the aquarium will discover the tank and free the shark who will finally be able to join the other animals.
