They do not communicate with words but with elements of their environment. The snowman sends snow, pine needles... The sandman sends sand, algae, shells...
4Why do the two characters seek to communicate?
Maybe they feel alone? Maybe they are looking for a friend?
5What is the end of the film?
The two characters decide to actually meet and cross the sea as a merchant on the seabed. Unfortunately, their nature does not allow them to stay in water for long: they both dissolve.

With telephones, smartphones, emails but also social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram...).
